Tidel Park – a Dawn of Information Technology Era in Coimbatore
An Information Technology park, TIDEL Park Coimbatore’s construction started in 2006, and the park was inaugurated in 2010. It’s a TIDEL Park Ltd project which is a joint venture between Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).
This park in Coimbatore is named after TIDEL Park in Chennai, and it’s a portmanteau of the words ELCOT AND TIDCO.
The aim of the park is to foster the growth of information technology in the districts of Tamil Nadu.

Location
Occupying 9.5 acres of land, TIDEL Park in Coimbatore is situated in ELCOT SEZ which is in Peelamedu, behind Coimbatore Medical College, and near arterial Avinashi road. By car, you can reach TIDEL Park from Coimbatore International Airport in about fifteen minutes as it’s at a distance of 2.5 miles.
The entire ELCOT SEZ property is nearly 63 acres of which a few companies already occupy a share:
- 5 acres occupied by HCL Technologies
- 9.5 acres occupied by Wipro Limited
- 9.5 acres occupied by TATA Consultancy Services
- And TIDEL Park occupies 9.5 acres
Infrastructure
1,713,000 square feet is the total built-up area of the park. The building has three underground floors plus four floors.
There are three underground floors which are designated for parking, commercial entities occupy the ground floor, and the remainder following levels are for Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services companies. Other amenities such as the cafeteria, post office, conference rooms, maintenance staff, ATMs, security, etc. can be found on the ground floor.
All floors come with independent power supply, centralized air-conditioning and twenty elevators, and four elevator banks.
The architect behind this masterpiece is C N Raghavendran (CRN Architects).

Occupancy
As construction was completed in 2009, companies have occupied office spaces. It is believed that there are more than 78 clients who have employed over 11,500 employees. The government of Tamil Nadu along with TIDEL are inviting all major players.
